¿Qué es la verificación de identidad (KYC)?
This process is regulated by the 4th EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive. This regulation requires the identification of all users who make online sales, and our payment platform requests this information. For more information, please visit this link.
Identity verification is a mandatory step required when performing certain actions in the wallet, such as transferring money from sales to a bank account and reloading. You only need to do this once, as long as you use the same bank account. If you only need to make a payment with money you already have in your wallet, identity verification is not necessary.
You can complete the verification from the app or from the website.
Validation process
The validation process consists of the following steps:
- Choose the identity document you are going to add to validate that you are the owner of the bank account. Depending on your nationality, you will need to attach one type of document or another (ID card, passport, residence permit, or driver's license).
- Validate the two-step verification via email. For more information about this process, see: Two-step verification on Wallapop.
- Take photos of the document (in some cases, both sides).
- The validation process will then begin. This process may take up to 24 business hours. You can track the progress of the process both in the app and on the website.
| Important: The document you use must be valid at the time of validation. |
Where is your verified identity badge displayed?
When you complete identity verification, we display a verified identity badge on your profile and next to your seller information on your listings. This way, other people can see that you’ve verified your identity before they buy from you or contact you.
The badge does not display any personal information; it simply confirms that your identity has been verified.
It is not a rating of you as a seller, nor is it a guarantee regarding the products or the transaction. The verification process includes security measures, but it does not fully guarantee that a person is who they claim to be.
Why might you lose your verified identity badge?
The verified identity badge may stop appearing if:
- Your identity verification is no longer valid (for example, if your ID expires).
- You change the bank account linked to your wallet and need to re-verify your identity.
- We detect usage that violates our Terms and Conditions of Use.
If your identity is verified again, the badge will reappear.
